George Vine

George Vine. He was born in Jamestown, New York, grew up on Long Island, raised his family

in West Babylon, New York. George and Maryanne (nee Lamano) retired to Bonnet Shores,

Rhode Island, and spent the last few years in West Islip, New York.

George graduated from Division Avenue High School in Levittown, New York in 1962. He

attended Farmingdale College and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War

era.

In 1970, he married Maryanne and moved to West Babylon, New York. In 1971, George

founded Riteway Swimming Pools which he grew and expanded until he retired in 2000.

Proudly, his sons, Rick and Scott, still run the business. George also worked for Meenan Oil

Company retiring in 1999. He was a mentor to many, generous with advice, and always willing

to lend a helping hand.

George was an avid Islanders fan with season tickets in section 315 at Nassau Coliseum, where

he would often hang banners pleading for a “SHOT CLOCK”. He enjoyed country music and

often donned a cowboy hat while sipping an iced cold Coors Light. He and Maryanne were

frequent travelers, their favorite destination being Aruba. Together, George and Maryanne

relished their relationships with their six grandchildren, the fondest memories being at the

House on Col. John Gardner Road in Bonnet Shores. George taught them to fish, make

slingshots, carved the best pumpkins, and made them all feel as if they were his favorite.

George was adored and will be missed by his wife of 53 years, Maryannne, his two sons,

Rick(Tory) and Scott(Amie), and his grandchildren: Charlotte, Mae, Tom, Tim, Travis and

Jeremy. He was predeceased by his siblings Sandra Bennet and Scott Vine. His sense of

humor and joyous demeanor will be missed by his brother and sister in-laws: John, Sheila, Joe,

Ron, Geri, Debbie, and Phil. He was an adoring uncle and friend to many. He will be missed.

A visitation for George will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A visitation will occur Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A religious service will occur Friday, April 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM. A committal service will occur Friday, April 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleums, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, New York 11739.
