George L. Bryant, of West Babylon, New York, passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on May 11, 1939, in Sherman Mills, Maine, George was the beloved son of Edward Foster Bryant and Edna Nichols. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence touched the lives of many.
George was the loving husband of Gloria Franco for more than 30 years. Together, they shared a life filled with laughter, love, and a deep devotion to one another. He was the proud father of Russell Bryant and Jennifer Channer, Paul and Maureen Bryant, Georgie Bryant, Victoria and Tom Comerford, Michael and Lisa Franco, and Robert and Jennifer Franco. His family also includes 13 cherished grandchildren: Ashley Bryant, Sidney Bryant, Chase Bryant, Matthew Bryant, Nicole Bryant, Nolan Comerford, Evan Comerford, Jordan Franco, Andrew Franco, Alexandra Franco, Shayna Franco, Jake Franco, and Anabelle Franco, all of whom were the light of his life.
George was the brother of Wayne Bryant and Maryann Cooper, and his siblings, along with extended family and friends, will miss his warmth, generosity, and unmistakable sense of humor.
A skilled auto mechanic, George proudly owned and operated his own shop, 163 Akron Auto, in Lindenhurst, New York, where he earned the respect and admiration of customers and colleagues alike for his expertise and work ethic. Outside of work, George was an avid fan of car racing and enjoyed attending races whenever he could. He was also a lifelong supporter of the New York Mets, with many fond memories spent watching games with family and friends.
As a member of the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst, George embraced his community and enjoyed being involved in local events. However, above all else, he treasured time spent with his beloved Gloria and their grandchildren. His larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and contagious laugh brought joy to all who knew him.
George’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His humor, kindness, and unwavering love will be remembered always.
May George rest in peace, and may his legacy of love, laughter, and family live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
