Duane W. Albro passed away on June 1, 2024, he was 77 years old. Born and raised on the Albro family farm in Marathon, NY; Duane spent his youth working on the farm, instilling a work ethic that he brought to everything throughout his life. He was a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War who was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star. Duane took pride in supporting his fellow veterans especially through his work with the Night Stalker Foundation where he served on their executive board. After completing his military service; Duane attended University of Buffalo where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration along with an MBA with distinction from New York Institute of Technology. He also was accepted into the American Mensa Society. Duane then began his storied career with New York Telephone where he worked his way up from a lineman to being a senior executive. Following this, Duane served in various C-suite roles and on Company boards, most recently as the Chairman of the Board of Squan Telecom. Though he was proudest of his roles as husband to the love of his life Kate, loving father to his daughter Kathryn and Pop Pop to his grandchildren Kathryn and William. Duane’s sharp wit, extreme generosity, and thoughtfulness will be missed by all in the community, where he was an active parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church and regular at the YMCA. He is survived by his Wife Kate; children Kathryn(Brendan Warner) and Hillary Ferrante. Grandchildren Kathryn and William Warner and Taylor Ferrante. He is predeceased by his parents Spencer and Betty Albro.
A visitation for Duane will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 W. Main Street, Babylon, NY. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Patrick's RC Church, 9 Clinton Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
