It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of David L. Fitton, 85, of West Islip, NY, who entered into Eternal Life on February 16, 2023. David was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, in 1937, to his proud parents, Mark & Julia Fitton. His younger brother, Paul, predeceased him. Early in life, the family moved to Massapequa, NY, where David graduated high school and was an avid athlete. He blessed the pages of Newsday, where he was credited with saving the lives of two kids who had fallen through the ice while playing. After high school, David was drafted and served his country Honorably as a medic in the United States Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Julie, and started his long and fruitful life. David was instrumental in carving the landscape of Long Island, where he started his concrete construction firm, D. Fitton Concrete, Inc. He worked on small and large projects from Montauk to Manhattan, Upstate New York, and even New Jersey. For over 50 years, his business thrived, with no advertising. All of his work was word of mouth. His projects spoke for themselves. His works included both residential and commercial projects, with names of many prominent companies, including, Burger King, McDonald's, PC Richards, Midas, Amoco, Exxon Mobile, Gulf Oil, the United States Postal Service, and the list goes on. There aren't many towns on Long Island where D. Fitton Concrete didn't have a project. David credited his success to His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
David is survived by his wife, Julie, and his four children, Julianne Cassetta (married to Patrick), David, Lynda, and Danny. He has numerous grand and great-grandchildren that he was an inspiration to. His many relatives and friends whom he loved will miss him dearly.
