Steven is survived by his wife and partner of fifty years, Louise Champoux, his devoted sons, Dylan (Sara) and Phillip, and his precious and adored grandchildren, Aaron, Charlotte, Victoria and Jasper. He is also survived by his siblings; Katherine Blake, Gwynneth Mary Lovas, Elizabeth Welch, Matthew Turner, Peter Turner, Louise's siblings; Jacqueline Couture, Gilles Champoux, Nicole Mongeau and their families.
A thoughtful and caring husband, father, son and brother, and a gracious friend, Steven never shied away from providing constructive advice or loving support. He loved to laugh and brought a level of contagious enthusiasm to every pursuit in life, from wine appreciation and cuisine, to art and design.
After a lengthy career as a senior and respected public servant, serving in Canada and abroad, Steven set off in his retirement to pursue a life-long fascination with his family’s history, culminating in the publication of a work of historical fiction about 18th century English gamekeepers entitled, “A License To Kill”.
The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the caring staff of both the Oncology Department of the Gatineau Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit of the Hull Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 24th at St Paul’s Church in Aylmer at 11 am. Condolences will begin at 10:30 am.
A celebration of life will follow the service at the Chevalier de Colomb, located at 78 rue Principale in Aylmer.
