Wilma, raised a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church for over fifty years. Her love of God kept her strong all her life. She saw only the good in all she knew and had a natural love and great patience of children and as a young lady became a nanny in her native Temple area. She moved to Houston in the early 1950s where she met her husband of 53 years. She and Leon married on February 19, 1955 in Temple. Wilma stayed home to care for their children, and also cared for many other children in her home for over 40 years, treating each as if they were her own, including all but the two youngest of her grandchildren. She and Leon were active members of American Legion Post 83 through the 1960's and 70's where she was Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary. Wilma loved dancing and was a devoted fan of her husband playing music. She also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed bingo, casino nights, and listening to polka music. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Sara Westgate, Dr. William Inman, and Dr. Jonathon Klocek for their care. Also sincere thanks to Joyce Pulich, Hospice Austin, and Tonya Maloy and Janet Hellums of Robinson Creek, and especially Mary Alice and all the girls at La Contessa.
