William Allie Ward (Al) went to be in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Austin, Texas. Al was born on February 23, 1942 in Dothan Alabama to Louise Seaborn and William (Bill) Ward. He was the beloved husband of Pamela Williams Ward, for 20 years.
He was the loving and devoted father of three children, Heather L Beitzel of Austin Texas and William Allie Ward, II and Kelly E. Ward, both of Richmond VA. The joys of Al’s life were four beautiful grandchildren, Alexandra and Annamarie Beitzel and Alexis and William Ward. He is survived by one sister, Beth Wadsworth of Dothan, Alabama.
Al graduated from Dothan High School in 1960 and from the University of Alabama in 1965 of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Al received his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 1969. After serving in the Navy for four years, he practiced in Birmingham AL. Al served several years in the Alabama Army National Guard and returned to active duty with the Army serving in various assignments. Al retired from military service in May 1999. After his military service, he spent several years volunteering at Brook Army Medical Center through the Chaplin’s department, visiting and ministering to wounded soldiers. He volunteered at Regents School of Austin in the library where he was loved by the children and teachers.
Al was an active and well loved member of the San Antonio and Austin communities. He served as an elder at Harvest Fellowship Community Church and The Point Community Church where he taught several bible classes and a member of Park Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio. Al was a member of Southwest Hills Community Church in Austin. In San Antonio, he volunteered at Brook Army Medical Center in the Chaplin’s service visiting and ministering to wounded soldiers. Al volunteered at Regents School of Austin in the library where he was loved by both children and teachers. He was on the Board of Directors of Embassy of Hope Ministry and founding elder of The Point Community Church in San Antonio, TX.
For all who knew and loved Al, the quality that was paramount in his life, was his Lord and Savior Jesus. Al always had time to listen, love and care for others. He was a living example of living life to the service of others. He will be missed and remembered with love by all those who were touched by his life.
The funeral services will be held in Austin, Texas at Southwest Hills Community Church, 7416 W. Hwy 71, Austin Texas 78735 Saturday, 22 January at 1000. Visitation is Friday evening at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress, Austin, TX 78704, 6-8:00 p.m. Interment is 26 January, 11:45 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Embassy of Hope, P.O.
