William E. Traylor, Jr. "Bill", age 77, passed away August 30th, ending a ten-month battle with cancer that he fought with courage and dignity. His family was by his side. Bill was born in Brenham, Texas where he spent his childhood years. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, returning to earn degrees at Blinn College and Sam Houston State University. Bill began his professional career with Gulf Refining Company in Houston. During his 35 years with the company, pipeline work led him and his family to Korea, Ecuador, and Pennsylvania, before his retirement in 1991. Bill and his wife of fifty years, Marinell Brooks Traylor, have lived in Austin for the past eighteen years. Bill is survived by his wife; by his son, Clayton Howell Traylor and his wife Pamela and their son Samuel, of Plano; his daughter, Holly Wise and her children, Davidlee and Brittany, of West Palm Beach, Florida; his brother-in-law, John Brooks and his wife, Carol and their children, David and Anne, of Plano; his nephew, Charles Whitson and his wife Linda and sons, Davis, Douglas, and Thomas, of Houston; and his niece, Laura Forsythe and her husband, Brad, of Maui, Hawaii. During his retirement years, Bill served on the Board of Directors at the Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas; served on the board of the Blinn College Alumni Association; served 18 years as a volunteer bailiff in the City of Austin Municipal Court, where he was twice recognized as their Volunteer of the Year; and was an active member of LAMP at the University of Texas. Friends are cordially invited to join the family for Bill's memorial service on Friday, the 4th of September, 11:30 a.m., at St. Luke's on the Lake Episcopal Church, 5600 Ranch Road 620 North, 78732. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Pew Bible Memorial Fund at St. Luke's on the Lake.
