William Joseph "Bill" Thompson

Bill grew up in Brooklyn. He moved to Texas after serving in World War II and graduating from college. He spent most of his life in Port Arthur with his wife, Mary Virginia, and their seven children. He retired to Lago Vista in the late 1990s after his wife died and the family funeral business was sold.

Bill loved his new home, but most of all he loved his new church, Saint Mary Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, and its wonderful parishioners. In many ways they became a second family and watched out for him as he grew older and more frail.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Mary Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish, 6100 Lohman Ford Road, Lago Vista, TX 78645. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Mary Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish, 6100 Lohman Ford Road, Lago Vista, TX 78645. Burial will be in Port Arthur, Texas.
