William T. (Bill) Longmire, 90, of Round Rock, Texas passed away May 28, 2007 after a brief illness. Born June 5, 1916 in Blackburn, Oklahoma, Bill was the son of Thomas. O. Longmire and Nannie Crenshaw Longmire. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and his wife of 65 years, Runette M. Longmire. Mr. Longmire was a veteran of WWII having served as Master Sergeant in the Army. After serving three years in the Philippines, he retuned to Oklahoma to begin his life long career in the family owned furniture business of Harbor Longmire in Oklahoma City and retired from Dillards in Arlington, Texas. A devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, Bill shared his love of the outdoors and in particular gardening with his family, friends and neighbors right up to the last few months of his life. Having lived in Arlington for 35 years, he was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys professional football team. Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki L. Hanna and Kenneth G. Hanna of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Kendall Hanna Vealey and husband Britt M. Vealey of Austin, Texas and Courtney Hanna Goodman and husband Rusty Goodman of Lufkin, Texas; two great grandchildren Beau M. Vealey and Liza T. Vealey; an uncle, Jack Longmire and wife Petie Longmire of Dallas, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. Longmire will be held graveside at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30th at Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas, 78749. The family wishes to thank the many care givers at Health Center and Round Rock Medical Center who provided heartfelt care to Bill during his illness.
