William L. Keller passed away peacefully on June 9th with his daughters at his side at Westminster Manor. He was born in Bridgeport, CT. on April 15, 1918. The middle child of Josephine McCarthy and Denis Keller, he attended Bridgeport schools and was an alumnus of Duke University and St. Johns Law School. He was a founder of Duke's Hoof and Horn Club that is still in full swing today. During WWII, he served with the Army Air Corp as a Staff Sargent.
His early career centered on managing big bands including the Glenn Miller and Rudy Vallee Bands. His love of music was a mainstay in his long and fulfilling life.
In the late nineteen-fifty's Mr. Keller entered local politics and was elected Town Clerk of Bridgeport, and was reelected three times. In 1968, Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Mr. Keller Postmaster of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Postmaster Keller was an active member of the Bridgeport Community and the last surviving Founder of the St. Patrick's Scholarship Dinner, which remains an annual tradition in Bridgeport.
Postmaster Keller had a long and celebrated career in the Postal Service and retired in 1994. After retiring, he and his loving wife Mary Andrew moved to the great city of Austin where they were welcomed with open arms. Bill quickly became a staple in the music community. After the passing of his wife Mary in 2002, the Austin community of all ages surrounded him with love and friendship. He was honored to have a bar stool dedicated to him at Lamberts.
Both Bridgeport and Austin communities gathered together to celebrate Mr. Keller's 100th Birthday on the weekend of April 14th. The birthday event included a tribute to him at the Parker Jazz Club. He said it was the best weekend of his life!
Mr. Keller is predeceased by his brother Captain Jack Keller and sister Denise Fitton. He is survived by his loving daughters Melinda (Ray), Nadine (Peter) and his beloved grandchildren Meredith, Maggie, P.K. and Christopher and favorite sister-in-law and nephew Bettie and John (Debbie) and niece Renee.
Bill's daughters extend a special thanks to the Austin Community for their love and friendship particularly the families of his beloved partner Norma Sherman and best friend Bill Noble, Michael and Laura Mordecai, Whitfield Thomas (Annie), the family of Bill Hamilton, Rosie and Ralph Cimino and Sharon Goss. A special thank you to his loving caregivers at Westminster and CareSearch particularly his longtime helper (Saint) Mozell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Austin Catholic Church, 2026 Guadalupe St., Austin, Texas 78705. Parking will be available in the garage at 500 San Antonio St., Austin, TX 78705. A private family burial will take place in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Pallbearers will be Peter Keller Isacs, Christopher Isacs, Peter Isacs, Witfield Thomas, Bill Noble, Kent Wymore and Jonathon Allen.
In lieu of flowers the family will appreciate donations to SWAN SONG, a charity that fulfills musical wishes at the end of life.
