Dr. William E. James, 96, died at his home in Jonestown, Texas, on December 29, 2010. He was born on May 4, 1914 in Davenport, Oklahoma. Soon after his birth, he came to Texas and lived a long life there.
He received his Bachelors Degree from Sam Houston State University, and received his Masters and Doctorate from The University of Houston. During World War II, he served his country in the Army at Ellington Field in Houston. Upon his discharge, he spent his career as a psychologist in the service of others, first at the Veterans Hospital in Houston, and later at Travis State School in Austin. Upon retiring, Bill embraced the Hill Country lifestyle with boating and fishing on area lakes and along the Texas coast.
Bill married Ruby Estelle Damuth in 1945 and was a loving and devoted husband to her for 65 years, and a doting father to their daughter, Katy.
The family will receive friends at Bill and Ruby’s home in Jonestown, on Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
