He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alma Bacon; sister, Craig Rowe; and brothers James, Robert and Samuel.
He is survived by his wife, Alice of 66 years; two daughters, Sammie Baker and husband Carl Pittman, Mary Deaver and husband Mike Deaver; and son, William Bacon Jr. and wife Marianne. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
William graduated from Neosho High School where he was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Baptist Church. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and retired in 1972 after having served in Korea and Vietnam as well as several US locations. After retiring from the Air Force, he attended Southwest Texas University and received his Masters Degree in education. He taught 27 years at Johnston High School and Anderson High School retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing with our various pets.
Visitation will be at Cook-Walden Funeral Home North Lamar location, on Friday, September 2nd from 4-7pm. His funeral service will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home North Lamar location, Saturday, September 3rd at 1pm. 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas 78752.
