Bill was born in Galveston on Friday, Oct. 13, 1950 to parents, William Sr. and Frances Ashmore, both now deceased. He graduated from Ball High School in Galveston and went on to receive his B.A. and B.B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin, where he played trombone in the UT Band. He worked nights at the IRS to pay for school, and this is where he met Duannah. They were married in 1973 at Birkmann Chapel of Concordia Lutheran College. During their 44 year marriage, they traveled throughout the U.S., but especially enjoyed exploring the backroads of Texas, and they shared a great love of music. Bill was blessed with the abilities to fix almost anything, to create with an artistic eye, crafting primarily with reclaimed wood, and to grow beautiful landscapes. And, he respected and loved all of God's amazing animal life. His career was with Farmers Insurance but he spent his life in service to others, especially in caring for his wife, striving to reflect the love of Christ.
Bill is survived by his wife, Duannah; brother-in-law, Nathan; brothers and their wives, Philip and Pat Ashmore of Santa Fe, TX, Van Kirk and Janis Ashmore of Galveston; sister-in-law, Yvette Emmrich and brother-in-law, Pete Fay of Elgin; many other dear relatives and friends; and several adopted cats.
"The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation." Ex. 15:2.
