Wayne Richards

WAYNE RICHARDS Wayne Richards, age 54, of Austin died Thursday, May 13, 2004. He was born August 26, 1949 in Norwood, Massachusetts. Wayne married Roderica McKinnon in 1969. In the 1970's, he served in the Massachusetts National Guard, and worked for MIT as a computer programmer and manager of the computer center. In the 1980's, he worked for The Faxon Company, where one of his proud accomplishments was creation of an internal email system in 1982. While at Faxon, he traveled regularly to Amsterdam, which he enjoyed tremendously. He also taught computer classes at a school in Boston on the weekends. In the late 80's and through the 90's, he worked at Cincom Systems. While with that company, he traveled constantly, accruing ‘Skymiles’ to take the whole family on numerous vacations. In 1996, he relocated to Austin with his family. He recently started his own insurance agency. Wayne was a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council 347, Whitman, MA. He became a Eucharistic Minister in the early 1990's. Wayne loved vacations, especially to Las Vegas and Laughlin. He enjoyed gardening, music and woodworking. He was a huge Beatles fan, and attended many ‘Beatlesfest’ conventions. He was known for always helping anyone in any way he could and was so giving with his time. Mom always said, "Wayne can do that!" He was a generous man who was extremely devoted to the happiness and well being of his family. He was a beloved brother, father, husband and best friend. Survivors include his loving wife, Roderica (Roddi) Richards; his daughters, Cynthia Mueller (32) and her husband Timothy of Boalsburg, PA and Jacquelyn Richards (12) of Austin; his brother, Robert Richards of Walpole, MA; his sisters, Beverly Young of Mansfield, MA, June Williams of Brockton, MA and Nancy Connolly of Sharon, MA; and many nieces and nephews. His parents Marion Virginia Richards and Everett Augustus Richards preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16th at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2004 at Emmaus Catholic Church, 1718 Lohmans Crossing in Lakeway.
