Wanda was a Christian woman that knew and loved God. A beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Wanda was born 83 years ago, on April 14, 1934, in San Gabriel, Texas, to Fritz "Fred" and Lilly Chandler.
She was loved by all who knew her, and will be forever remembered for her pure and tender heart, her kind and gentle soul, and her happy, funny spirit. Wanda was also known for her honesty and hard work. She worked at a variety of occupations over the years, finally retiring from her role as switchboard operator at the Austin State School.
She was a music lover and enjoyed playing her guitar, piano, and singing; especially with her very musical family. The years she spent singing with the Alamo Metro Sweet Adeline's were among her happiest!
Wanda was predeceased by her parents, Fred Chandler and Lilly Sames; her husband, Oliver "Pete" Norris, by her sister and brother-in-law, Margie and George Lane; her sister, Gladys Chandler; and her brother, Gayle "Bud" Chandler. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Nedal Dawoudi, two granddaughters Amanda Dawoudi and Misty Terrell, and a great grandson, Jon-Michael Dawoudi.
She is survived by her brother, James "Jimmy" Chandler and his wife Barbara; her daughter, Patricia Russell; and her sons, James Terrell and Charles Terrell; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; and by a very special best friend of 70 years, Von Staton, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pastor Mike East, a lifelong friend of Wanda, will officiate services at 11:00 AM Monday, October 16, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas and a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Liberty Hill Cemetery, 1610 Texas Highway 29, Liberty Hill, Texas 78642.
