Wanda Elaine Block

Wanda Block passed away on April 20, 2016 in Leander, TX, at age 83. She was born December 17, 1932 to Cecil and Nina (Whitehead) Roberts in Liberty Hill, TX. Wanda married Sidney Ray Salter on August 24, 1952. They had 4 children: Sherry, Don, Cindy, and Kristy. Sidney died in 1959 and Wanda later married Edwin Hart Block, Jr. They had 2 children: Carey and Tamara.

Wanda resided in Austin for over 60 years. She was a longtime member of Hyde Park Baptist Church where she taught Sunday pre-school. She cherished holidays and family life, and was involved in her children's church, school and extra-curricular activities. Wanda, also, worked as an Austin realtor for over 10 years. She was truly a loving, caring and gracious woman.

Wanda was preceded in death, first, by her first husband, Sidney Salter; then, it was her sister, Christine Peterson; her parents; her sister, Cecil Dean Hollingsworth; and her husband of 32 years, Edwin Block. She is survived by her sister, Imogene Foust of Liberty Hill, TX, and her 6 children and their spouses: Sherry Salter Whittaker and husband Mark of Plano, TX; Don Salter and wife Andrea of Bulverde, TX; Cindy Salter McKelvey and husband Myron of Leander, TX; Kristy Salter McCabe and husband David of Grandview, MO; Carey Block Noel and husband Jack of Fayetteville, NC; and Tamara Block and husband Dennis. She was blessed to have 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 2:30 to 4:30 on April 23, 2016 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, Austin. A celebration of her life will be at 2:30 on April 24, 2016 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 6420 Hart Lane, Austin, with Rev. Brian Peterson officiating. A burial service will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayerful consideration of donations in Wanda's memory to Ascension Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
