Vivian Kieke, 97, died in Austin on September 12, 2012. She was able to remain active and live at home until the last month of her life. Working mostly in public schools, she retired from Pflugerville ISD.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alton.
She is survived by her children, James, Mary, Keith (and Colleen), John and Joseph (and Kim) all of Austin; grandchildren Carla (and Jeff) Sugar of Maryland, David (and Courtney) Kieke, and Angela (and David) Fried and Samuel Kieke of Austin; great grandchildren Alexis, Peter and Erin; and sister, Bernadette Shafer of Bishop, Texas and nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 14th of September 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 15th of September 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow, Austin, Texas with Rev. Gary Goodson officiating. A private graveside ceremony will be held in Carmine, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests donations be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow, Austin, Texas 78757.
