Vince Rawl, a restaurateur and private investor, died on April 23, 2011 in Austin, Texas. He was 50 years old. Mr. Rawl is survived by his wife, Tracy S. Rawl; two daughters, Malin N. Rawl and Cameron G. Rawl; his stepmother, Gail Williamson Rawl of Fort Worth; and two sisters, Jana Nichols and Kelly R. Guziejka, both of Austin. Mr. Rawl was the son of the late Lawrence G. Rawl and the late Betty E. Rawl and brother of the late M. Michael Rawl. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute of America, Mr. Rawl began his career as a chef and was the owner of several restaurants in the Austin area, including the critically acclaimed Starlite. Mr. Rawl's investment activities included areas as diverse as automotive and motorsports, commercial real estate, professional sports, environmental protection and alternative energy. Mr. Rawl was a loving father and husband, and a devoted coach and mentor to children and young adults. In his role as president of Team Xpress Foundation and as a director of the LGR Foundation, he made a difference in the lives of thousands of children and senior citizens in Texas. Among his philanthropic endeavours, Mr. Rawl was instrumental in bringing together children from across the country and around the globe to participate in a series of basketball tournaments held in Austin. Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 26th of April 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 Slaughter Lane, Austin, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
