Vicki Elizabeth Schrader peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2015 at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family as she was finally able to gaze upon the face of God.
Vicki was born in Texarkana, Texas on July 23, 1947 and moved to Jacksboro, Texas when she was two years old. She was an only child and very close to her grandparents, Mary Helen Elizabeth (Ham) Spearman and David Bowden Spearman of Jermyn, Texas, now deceased. She graduated from Jacksboro High School and attended Texas Tech University and the University of North Texas, where she met her adoring husband of over 47 years.
Her greatest love in life was being a wonderful wife and proud mother and was blessed with three children who loved her very much. Vicki was also a high school beauty and gifted baton twirler, although she retired her batons many years ago. Throughout her life, Vicki was one of the most talented and creative homemakers who willingly made many sacrifices for her family. She loved antiquing and to travel, preferring to do them together.
For those who knew her personally, she was an angel and cared and worried more about those around her than herself. Vicki loved volunteering and generously donated her time to many charitable organizations, including the Austin Symphony League, the National Charity League, the Junior Assistance League, the Art Guild and the Dental Auxiliary.
She was a devoted member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin and enjoyed participating in many bible study programs. Her deep faith guided her and those around her. She was dearly loved and will be terribly missed by her family and friends. Her spirit lives on in those whose lives she touched.
Those celebrating her life are her husband, Dr. Larry B. Schrader of Austin; her three children, Brett Alan Schrader and his wife, Lisa of Houston; Meka Elizabeth Arend and her husband, Chris of Houston; and Erin Leann Schrader of Austin; her four grandchildren, Andrew Christopher Arend and Mackenzie Elizabeth Arend of Houston; and Laurel Elizabeth Schrader and Presley Elizabeth Schrader of Houston; her aunt, Betty Counts of Corsicana, Texas; and her cousins Randy and David Counts and their families; and Tim, Tom, and David Spearman and their families.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Dr., Austin, Texas. Respecting her wishes, Vicki was cremated and will be buried next to her grandparents in Graceland Cemetery in Jermyn, Texas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her honor may donate to The Settlement Home for Children or the charity of their choice.
