Trinidad “Trina” Martinez Orosco passed away peacefully, in her home with her children by her side, on the 28th day of December 2010 at the age of 92. She was born on the 19th of October 1918 to Jose Rodriguez Martinez of Cameron, Texas and Joshepha Medina Vasquez of Sequin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Alfred T. Orosco; her brother, Julian Garcia of Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Teresa Martinez of Fort Worth, Texas and Josephine Garcia Tafolla of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her five children: three daughters and two sons and their spouses which she considered them as her children as well: Sonia M. Wendlandt and Walter Wendlandt, Mary Alice Davila and Edward Davila, Dolores Balandran and Joe Balandran, Alfred Martinéz Orosco and Debra Orosco, Julian Martinéz Orosco and Mary Jane V. Orosco. She was blessed to be survived by nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; she adored each and every one of them. Trina lived for her family; they were her life and she loved attending family gatherings. She retired and worked in the A.I.S.D. food service program at local elementary schools and was a fantastic cook. Throughout her life Trina was a talented seamstress. She sewed most of her daughters' clothes, even after they finished their education, and she sewed clothes for many of her grandchildren. Trina was a founder and loyal parishioner at Sta. Julia Catholic Church since 1956. The family would like to express their love and a special “Thank You” to the staff, the Guadalupanas and her extended family of Sta. Julia Catholic Church, especially to the Very Rev. Christopher Ferrer. Also to A-Med Hospice and Elma Mellán for the comfort, care, love and support they provided to the family and their Mom. Pallbearers will be Joe Balandran, Joe Micheal Balandran, Jacob Perez, Gregory Meserole, Alfred M. Orosco, and Julian M. Orosco. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Tafolla, Arthur Tafolla, and Edward Davila. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening. A rosary will be recite at seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 30th of December, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
The funeral mass is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning, at Sta. Julia Catholic Church, 900 Tillery Street, on Friday the 31st of December, with the interment services to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
