Trevor Anthony Taylor beloved son, husband and father, of Austin, Texas died on January 23, 2017. He was 47. Trevor loved the law. A trial lawyer with his own practice, he was a tireless advocate and a true believer in the civil justice system. Trevor's heroes were lawyers, beginning with his father, Bill. Trevor relished an argument and fought passionately for the rights of those who couldn't fight for themselves. He stood in the arena unafraid, a strong, fair and compassionate man.
His children, Brooke and Reed were his pride and joy. They shared his love of Mexican food and cheesy '80s music. Trevor was the ever-present father at swim meets, music lessons, volleyball, basketball and career days, where he tried to instill a love of law to a new generation.
Trevor married Zoe Messinger in 1999. He was smitten from the day they met. They were a beautiful, inseparable, irrepressible and delightful pair who built a home full of laughter and love. A perfect match that brightened each other's days.
Trevor loved politics, Austin and the Texas Longhorns. He was quick with a joke, and an engaging storyteller around the dinner table. He was a fine tennis player and a great guy to have a beer with after the match. He leaves behind a Texas struggling to turn blue, a Longhorn team in search of another title, a set to be won and many meals and stories yet to be shared. He was a kind and decent man who loved many and was loved deeply in return.
Trevor was a graduate of University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law. Trevor received a graduate degree in Public Policy from Harvard. He was greatly respected by his colleagues, a past president of the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association, a board member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Lloyd Lochridge Inns of Court.
He is survived by two beautiful children: his daughter Brooke (14) and his son Reed (11); and his wife of 17 years Zoe Emily Taylor, his parents Maureen A. and William E. Taylor III of Houston, his brother Brian C. Taylor and family, and his mother and father-in-law Ray and Margaret Messinger and brother-in-law Joshua Messinger and family.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on January 28, 2017 at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice or The Southern Poverty Law Center.
