After graduating from Crockett High School in 1974, he attended Texas State University. He started a career in industrial construction and was highly successful as a project manager for major developments across Lake Way, Bee Caves, and Austin. Later in life, he used his skills as an independent contractor for his Lake Whitney Community including serving on its architectural board.
Thom loved books, music, and stars. He was an avid outdoorsman and expert sport fisherman on both sea and lake. Thom got to live his dream on the shores of Lake Whitney. The family would like to thank his gracious neighbors for embracing him as part of their lakeside family.
Thom was preceded in death by his father, Thomason Charles (TC) Eklund, and his uncle, Lt. Col Robert Walker. Thom is survived by his beloved mother, Silvia W. Eklund; his sister, Ann Eklund Phillips; son, Nicholas Eklund; niece, Jillian Phillips Detwiler; nephew, Will Phillips and brother-in-law, Jim Phillips.
A graveside service for Thomason will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
