Thomas “Tommy” Martin Hill 67, of Austin, TX departed to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, November 16, 2019 after a courageous 11 year battle with cancer. He endured almost 100 rounds of chemotherapy and never lost his loving faith in the Lord, sense of humor, kindness, and love for everyone around him. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be reunited with family and friends, will spend his time fishing on his boat, hunting, laughing, making jokes and being out in nature to his heart’s content.
Tommy was born November 2, 1952 in Austin, TX to Samuel and Martha (Adamcik) Hill Povse. Tommy graduated from Travis High School in 1971 and shortly after met the “woman of his dreams” who he was married to for the rest of his life. He began working as a pipe insulator and joined the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulation - Local Union 87. Tommy had two wonderful children Melissa and Jeffrey whom he loved dearly and would do anything for. In his early days, Tommy was a great baseball player, earning him a scholarship before moving on to love all other sports like handball, ping-pong, golf and then coaching his son’s teams. Tommy enjoyed spending his time fishing on his bass boat, hunting and watching UT football.
Anyone who knew Tommy understood that he would do anything for you or a stranger. He loved everyone! He worked very hard to provide for his family and fiercely loved the Lord. His kindness and loud personality was contagious and you were guaranteed to laugh if you were around him.
Tommy will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 44 years, Monika Hill; children, Jeffrey, future daughter-in law Heather Nix, Melissa and son-in law Eric Brubaker; grandsons, Nolan and Reed; brother, Samuel Hill, sister-in law Dorothy; sister, Marilyn Holmstrom, brother-in law Russ, sister-in law Eva (Threm) Walla; nieces, Michelle Martin, Jennifer Hauth, Lisa Hill, Ashley Alexander, Dawn Holmstrom, Misty Holmstrom; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
