My mother, Sylvia Ford, went to be with our Lord on June 15th after a difficult and unforgiving battle with dementia. Sylvia was 77 and surrounded by the love of her family, friends and caretakers as she peacefully released the bonds of this earthly life for an eternal one in His kingdom.
She was, born to Raul and Delfina Zavaleta on April 13, 1947 in Biloxi, Mississippi, becoming the youngest of their 3 children. She completed a master's degree in education that helped her grow a love for children and their learning. Many lasting friendships were shared in the schools where she served tirelessly for 30+ years within AISD. In 1978, she married a dear friend and coworker, Robert C. Ford and shared 36 cherished years together before his passing in 2014.
A member of the church from a very young age, Sylvia participated in countless roles, activities and committees throughout her years. She shared a profound love of service for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its community. With a heart called to serve, Sylvia was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others. She was an integral part of church ministries and the resources they provided to both parishioners and the surrounding community. Now that Sylvia has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey to the promise of Heaven.
Sylvia joins, her parents, her brother Raul Zavaleta Jr, her sister and brother-in-law Yolanda and James Musel and her beloved husband Bob Ford in Heaven. She is survived by loving family members, including daughter and son-in-law JoEllen (Joey) and Russell Hall, her grandchildren Parker Hall, Carson Hall, Riley Hall and Weston Hall, her sister-in-law Terri Zavaleta, her nephew, James Musel Jr., wife Berenice G. and his son Matthew, and her niece, Eileen Gregory, husband Stephen and their children Madeleine and Joshua.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~
