Sydneyanna Carter Willson Kirksey Wilkerson

Sydneyanna Wilkerson, age 90, died peacefully at home with her family on February 23, 2013. "Syd" was a teacher, principal and woman of faith. Born May 7, 1922 to David Mitchell Carter and Secola May Davis in Dallas, she was raised in Fort Worth.

"Syd" is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy E. Wilkerson of Fort Worth, and is survived by her family, David and Liz Willson, Rachael and David Rowley, Sarah and Michael Hill, and her precious great-grandsons, Jason and Jeremy Rowley.

To a generation of first grade students at Robert E. Lee Elementary School she was Mrs. Willson, married to "T" Willson, Optometrist. In the latter part of her 37 year career, she was Syd Kirksey, married to Curtis Kirksey of Night Hawk and Tracor. On completing her Masters of Education at UT Austin, she served as Principal of Reilly Elementary School and a service center contractor with Region 13.

Sydneyanna believed that each day was granted her by The Lord and she would choose to rejoice and be glad in it.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
