Suzanne Gonzales Williams, age 68, died peacefully on October 29, 2014. After winning a battle with Stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2013, Suzanne’s cancer returned with a vengeance way too soon. She met this battle with bravery and expired with grace in her home in Austin, Texas, surrounded by family.
Suzanne was born in Big Spring, Texas, on May 24, 1946.
21 years later her path was star crossed with the love of her life, Frank A. Williams III. It was love at first sight for Frank the minute he laid eyes on the stunningly beautiful, skinny, freckled faced waitress at his favorite Mexican restaurant. After telling Suzanne he was “not the marrying kind” on their first date, they were engaged after only three weeks of dating and married a week later.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of 47 years, Frank A. Williams III; daughter, Amy DeAnda; and daughter Curah Beard and husband, Brian; Grandsons, Eric and Josh Alvarado and Bruce and Brett Beard; Father, Louis P. Gonzales Sr.; sister Marcella Keller and husband Gene; brother Louis Gonzales Jr., and brother Randy Gonzales and wife Joanna, as well as lifelong family friends, Herbert Blackson and Kim Gonzales; and Suzie’s puppy, Rusty.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her mother, Amalia Gonzales.
A 30 year resident of Austin, Texas, Suzanne spent 20+ years at and retired from The University of Texas as an administrative assistant in the Math Department. She had an incredible love of family and home, dancing and travel. Preceding and during retirement, she enjoyed 15 cruises with her husband, most recently to Alaska where they had planned to return later this year.
Suzanne will be greatly missed. May she forever be the life of the party aboard a magical cruise ship in Heaven.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, October 31, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
