I'll miss making more memories like this one.
Stirling came to the ranch with a keg of homebrew.

Such sad news.  My sympathy to those who were close to him.
Stirling was a great friend to me.  Met him at FIT....  I was taking BioChem and he was the TA for the lab portion.  Super smart guy.  Tough class and I might have failed if not for some tutoring from Stirling.   Later we became house-mates with JC, right by campus....   the three of us, oh what fun we had :)  Stirling taught us how to, as they say in Austin....  make your own damn beer !!!  And beer we made.  Also living with us were his two dogs.....  Cisco (best mutt ever) and Valkyrie (the nippy Dobermann).   
I knew back from my days at FIT that Stirling would go on to do great things.  Just reading about his contributions at TxDOT....   as a conservationist/environmentalist myself I really appreciate that.  
One of the most influential persons in my life, a mentor, a friend....  I will never forget you Stirling....  peace be with you.

Stirling always stood up for his friends no matter what and stood up for wildlife even when it upset the higher-ups in the TxDOT organization.  He was honest and straight forward. Rest in peace "Stir."

I only met Sterling once or twice and talked to him on the phone just a month or so ago. I am shocked to learn of his passing and would like to let you know that your family is in my prayers.
