Steve Farmer, born in Idabel, Oklahoma was the firstborn son of Richard Adolphus and Lucille Farmer.
In 1946, the family moved to Turkey, Texas, then to Midland, Texas. After high school, Steve joined the United States Air Force (active duty April 13, 1960- January 12, 1965). After his military service, Steve began his career as an Electronics Technician at Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas. Steve retired from Texas Instruments after 30 years of service but continued to work until age 74. Steve enjoyed reading and loved sports, football and baseball in particular. He liked going on long Sunday drives and visiting small towns throughout Texas. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family during holidays and was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa.
Steve is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glenda Nell Farmer; his sons, Steve Farmer II and his wife Debbie, and Christopher Wade Farmer and his wife Diana; three granddaughters: Cheyenne Rose Farmer, Dakota Jewel Farmer, and Malena Cervantes Farmer; his siblings: Cleve Farmer, Walter Garland “Dub” Farmer, Charles Ray Farmer, Rickey Farmer, Nancy Mae Farmer Freeman, and Eula Jane Farmer Barton.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richmond Adolphus Farmer Jr.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas 78750. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Steve will be laid to rest the following day on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Ryan Cemetery, TX-321, Cleveland, Texas 77327.
