Shawn Avery Young Rademacher went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2015 after a courageous and inspiring fight against brain cancer. She was joyfully welcomed into Heaven by a host of angels, to be made whole in the presence of her Savior.
Born on July 28th, 1983 in Dallas, Texas to Joseph Kleber Young III and Page Burkholder Young, Avery's cheerful personality and infectious spirit carried her throughout life's journey. A tremendous athlete, her tenacity and fighting spirit were evident on both the soccer and track fields of Highland Park High School, where she led her team to multiple state championships. She continued to push herself physically, enjoying soccer, running, and Crossfit. The foundation of Avery's faith was laid early at University Park United Methodist Church and was further cultivated at Camp Mystic, where she developed lifelong friendships and a heart for serving others.
Avery attended The University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Biology. She was a proud member of Chi Omega sorority. After graduating, Avery earned her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Tech Health Science Center. She served at Texas Orthopedics in Austin, where she had found her true calling. Avery's proudest accomplishment to date, however, was marrying her best friend and husband Paul, on February 16, 2013.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Paul Andrew Rademacher of Austin, Texas, her mother and father, Page and Joe Young, her twin sister, Page Ashley Young, her brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Shannon Young, all of Dallas, Texas, her maternal grandparents, "Grandaddy" Mike and "Huggy" Dixie Burkholder of Granbury, Texas, her paternal grandfather, "Pops" Joseph Kleber Young, Jr., of Dallas, "The Cousins," other extended family, and pets, Tuna and Crider. Avery is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, "Gigi" Geraldine Hunt Young, also of Dallas, Texas.
A memorial service has been planned at the Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church for Monday, November 9 at 1:00 PM.
"And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us." Hebrews 12:1.
Often, we forget that brAVERY is best measured, not by victory or defeat, but by the spirit of the fight. In this, Avery will forever be our champion.
