Sharon Kay Evans Tuohy, known to her friends and family as Kay, age 68, died peacefully in her Austin home, on Friday July 19th 2013, after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. Kay was born October 26th, 1944 to Ray Evans and Mary Evans.
Kay graduated from McCallum High School in 1962. She was employed at Tracor for 20 years and then employed at Siemens for 25 years from which she retired.
She loved traveling with her beloved husband of 27 years, Michael and visited many countries during her lifetime. Kay was also an amazing artist who enjoyed creating beautiful pottery, stained glass, and sculptures. Throughout the years she opened her home to those who needed a place to stay, quiet wisdom, and a warm heart. Her kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Kay is survived by her spouse, Michael Tuohy; father, Ray Evans (Melinda) Evans; sister, Bonnie Matejka; son, Donald (Heather) Ross; daughter, India Ross; grandchildren, Tasman, Katlyn, Challen, and Grace; great grandchild, Aubreelynn; and loving nieces and nephews.
Kay and her family would also like to thank those who helped care for her, especially her friends and neighbors Lonnie Vanvalkenberg and Teva Patterson.
Services will be held Tuesday July 23rd at 2pm, at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home 3125 North Lamar Boulevard. Viewing will be held Monday July 22nd between 6pm and 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Foundation,1111 Stewart Avenue Bethpage, NY 11714 or any other charitable foundation your heart desires in her name.
