March 17, 1947 – May 8, 2023
Sharon Lampton Greenwood, 76, of Austin, Texas went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2023. She died peacefully surrounded by family after a years-long battle with Alzheimer’s. Sharon’s loving and generous nature touched the lives of all that knew her.
Sharon was born to Richard and Patsy Lampton in 1947 in Houston, Texas, where she attended Mount Carmel High School. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1969, and met her husband, Robert Greenwood, while working at Fannin Bank in Houston. They married in 1974, and moved to Austin in 1976, where they started a family and raised two children.
Sharon will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, wonderful and patient mother, kind and proud grandmother. She was loved by many for her warm and outgoing personality. She was also a devout Christian, and put her faith in the Lord above all else.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her stepmother Evelyn Lampton, her sister Debra Lampton and brother-in-law Bob Fleming. Sharon is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert; son John and wife Lauren and their two sons, Judson and John Holden; and son Leighton.
Sharon is also survived by her sister Delores Fleming; sister Kathy Schultz and husband Chris; sister Pam Butcher and husband Mike; brother Rick Lampton and wife Aimee; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sharon touched everyone who knew her with her generosity, grace and kindness. She will be greatly missed but the love she shared with us will never go away.
We would like to express our gratitude for the deeply compassionate staff at the Belmont Village Westlake and Magnolia Hospice.
