Sharon Lorraine Cartlidge, 76, of Austin, TX passed away Saturday, February 20th, 2021. Her spirit is carried on by her husband Ron Cartlidge, married 51 years, sister Jane Zimmermann (husband Larry Joe), daughter Jennifer (husband Mike), son Justin (wife Courtney), and grandchildren Benjamin & Nolan.
Sharon was born in Fort Worth, TX to Dow & Billie Meacham. Her father’s military service eventually took the family to San Antonio, TX where she attended John Marshall High School. While attending Marshall, she was head B-Team cheerleader, Sr Editor of the school newspaper, Secretary of the National Honors Society, and Key Club Sweetheart.
After high school, Sharon attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and was a member of the A Capella choir and Delta Zeta sorority.
After earning her degree, Sharon taught in AISD for 35 years, as a faculty member at both Allen Jr High and Regan High School. While at Allen, she met the love of her life, Ron, and the two married in 1969. She was a proud sponsor of the Spirit Managers organization at Reagan High School and during her tenure there, she received her Masters of Education from UT in 1983.
Sharon was a member of First Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday school classes regularly, and was a devoted member of the Sanctuary choir and Journey Group.
Virtual attendance at the memorial service is strongly encouraged due to Covid restrictions.
