Sean William Richardson, 42, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas on December 7th, 2021. He was born in Dalhart, Texas on March 12, 1979, to William and Marjorie Richardson. He grew up in Lake Charles, LA, Port Neches, TX, and attended Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in Beaumont, TX.
Sean attended Dartmouth College where he enjoyed time on the rowing team and graduated in 2001 with a BA in Computer Science and a minor in Anthropology. He received his MBA in 2011 from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Rugby team.
Sean was a loving and supportive son, brother, friend, and husband. In 2017, he married Haley Schultheis, who was his partner since first meeting at the Austin Film Festival in 2012. A lifelong tech and gadget enthusiast as well as an innovator, Sean’s fascination with computers began in the 80s when he got his first Apple device. Sean was an early and lifelong Apple aficionado. He co-founded Stork Stack, a subscription e-commerce company, in 2012 and successfully sold the business in 2014. He then went on to become the CEO and co-founder of Beholder Technology in 2015, building and launching a life-saving flood and camera platform for the City of Austin in 2018. He recently joined Cloudflare as a Growth Marketer and technologist in early 2021.
Sean loved cooking, woodworking, film (particularly Pixar and Robert Redford), astronomy, photography, swimming, hiking, trees, trips to Marfa, and he had a special affinity for the cello and film scores by James Horner.
Sean was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William Polk Richardson in 2018; grandparents, Joseph and Frances Novotney, and W.P. and Ruth Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Haley; mother, Marjorie Richardson; sister, Katherine (Chris) Carson; brother, William (Akiko) Richardson, and five nieces and one nephew. He will be dearly missed by his two beloved dogs, Churchill and Plum.
