Scott Arnold Hanshaw, a beloved son, uncle, fraternity brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at the age of 59. With a heart full of love, a spirit grounded in faith, and a life driven by service, Scott leaves behind a legacy of generosity, leadership, and unwavering loyalty.
Born on November 24, 1965, in Huntsville, Alabama, Scott was the son of William Hanshaw and Marjorie Hanshaw. He grew up in Austin, Texas, where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Pearce Middle School, later graduating from LBJ High School in May 1984.
Among Scott’s most cherished memories were the years he spent as an LBJ Jaguar. He often reflected on the deep friendships and lessons he learned on and off the field. He proudly served as a starting tackle on the 1983 Bi-District Championship football team, an achievement that held a special place in his heart. The camaraderie and discipline he developed during those years would guide him throughout his life.
Scott went on to attend Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he became a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Inc., initiated into the Theta Tau Chapter in May 1987. His connection to Sigma Chi was lifelong—not just in name, but in spirit. He later became a Life Loyal Sig, a distinction he held with pride, exemplifying the fraternity’s values of friendship, justice, and learning in all areas of his life.
In 1996, Scott earned his Bachelors’ degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Southwest Texas State University, a milestone that marked not only academic achievement but also a commitment to excellence and perseverance.
Professionally, Scott built a distinguished career in pharmaceutical sales, beginning with Johnson & Johnson, where he served for 15 years, and continuing with Ortho Neutrogena, a division of the same company. His leadership, integrity, and work ethic earned him high honors, including MVP awards, Division Sales Representative of the Year, and induction into the President’s Club. He was widely admired across the Texas Gulf Division for his mentorship, professionalism, and authenticity.
Beyond work, Scott’s greatest joy was his family. He loved planning family vacations and getaways, treating his loved ones to memorable trips that created cherished experiences and lasting bonds. Whether on the beach, a cruise, or exploring new places, Scott was most fulfilled when surrounded by those he loved.
A man of faith and service, Scott was also a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, where he exemplified his dedication to charity, unity, and community engagement.
Scott is survived by his loving mother, Marjorie Hanshaw, and nieces, Chelsea Priem and Marci Priem-Holmes, along with a host of aunts, uncles, extended family members, Sigma Chi brothers, former teammates, professional colleagues, and lifelong friends who will remember his kindness, humor, and unshakable loyalty.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Hanshaw, his sister, Reagan Hanshaw, his maternal grandparents, Alvis Thomason and Maurine Syma Thomason, and his paternal grandparents, Herschel and Johanna Hanshaw.
Scott lived a life of meaning and service—marked by quiet strength, intentional generosity, and love for others. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, the memories he helped create, and the values he embodied every day.
