Sarah Marie Holmes

Sarah was raised in Cheapside, Texas as one of six children. She attended the University of California at Los Angeles and Texas A&I (now Texas A&M Kingsville) and received a Bachelors degree in Education. She taught elementary school for many years and is always remembered fondly by former students and their parents.

Sarah was married to Stoke Peyton Holmes, Jr. who passed away in June of 2001. She is survived by their two children, Mary Kathryn Holmes Cloud and Stoke Peyton Holmes III, as well as her granddaughters, Mandy (Shane) Niles and Meredith (Colin) Conly. She was also blessed to have five great grandchildren – Birdie, Elle and Stoke Niles and Evelyn and Chap Conly.

Sarah's passions included sewing, gardening, reading, traveling, and playing bridge. She was an active member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church, the Women's Association of Austin Country Club and two local Garden Clubs.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 9 at Tarrytown United Methodist Church.
