Sandra Faye Nevels was born on August 5th, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, to Freda “Mae” Nevels and Ike Sandford. She was preceded in death by her four siblings: Beverly, Jackie, Michael, and Pamela. At a young age, Sandra and her siblings were raised by their grandmother, Ms. Alfred Harris, and they remained close throughout their lives. She was raised in church and made Fairview Baptist Church her home. She always put God first.
Sandra attended school in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Fox Tech High School. She then went to nursing school, where she became a CNA and worked as a nurse for over 30 years. In 2006, Sandra relocated to Austin, Texas, where she graded God’s plan.
She then joined the Department of Public Safety, where she worked her way up to becoming a supervisor. Sandra was passionate about her job, and her crew became like family to her. She made it her mission to go to work and took pride in being on point. She was a very hard worker and a loving, sweet-hearted person, always looking to help any way she could. She loved to work, working five days a week, and was never without a job. She was that lady.
In 1978, Sandra married the love of her life, Charles Madison, and God blessed them with one daughter, Tandelyn Marsharrie Sauls.
Sandra's sweetheart and positive energy touched everyone she met. She was genuine, loving, and always there to help the people that needed her. She was loved by everyone that knew her.
She was blessed with family, friends, and everything that was part of her life. She was a proud grandmother and family member to all. Sandra stayed connected with her loved ones, reaching out to family and friends on the weekends, extending her heart to those around her.
Sandra stood her ground for 68 years. She was admitted to the hospital on April 3rd, and she returned home on April 8th.
Sandra leaves behind countless memories and lots of love in the hearts of all who knew her.
