Sallie Sue Houghton passed away on January 4, 2012. She was born in Fort Worth Texas, on December 10, 1945 to William (Bill) and Pauline Addieway. Although born in Fort Worth she lived in Austin for most of her life and over the years was involved in the community as an activist, volunteer, advocate, and residential realtor. Sallie will be remembered for her big heart, generosity of spirit, and unconditional acceptance of those she cared about. She was in awe of the world and all it has to offer and loved to explore it. Whether that was getting in the car for a quick road trip or a big adventure to China or Morocco she approached the exploration of life with the amazement and wonderment of a child. Sallie taught us all how to love big, live big and pay it forward. We will miss her.
Sallie is survived by her two beloved daughters, Debora Morris and Stephanie Bowman-Houghton both from Austin Texas; her grandchildren Philip Morris, Allison Morris, Gavino Morris III, Mikaylah Bowman and Ana Geismar-Bowman; her cousins, Rena Engles and George Simpson Jr. whom she thought of as brother and sister along with a host of other family and dear friends.
A Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2012, at Weed-Corley-Fish, 2620 S Congress Ave, Austin, Texas with Reverend Walt Brewer, her dear friend and pastor, officiating.
