She was a native Austinite, born February 9, 1918, to Otto Henry Reissig and Pauline Rousseau Reissig. She was baptized June 9, 1918 in St. Martins Lutheran Church, Austin, and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church, Austin, September 29, 1940. On December 16, 1939, she married Eduard “Eddie” Meschke. They were married for 33 years until his death. Ruby was a graduate of Austin High School and a former Red Jacket. She worked as a teller many years for Capital National Bank (now J.P. Morgan Chase), retiring in 1983. She was a talented seamstress, sewing clothing for family and clients. Later she applied her talents to making banners and baptismal napkins for her church, Messiah Lutheran. She was always willing and happy to help her church and her family in every way she could. She will be greatly missed by all.
The family wishes to thank her care givers at Cedar View Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their kindness and skill during her last months of life.
Ruby was predeceased by her parents and husband, Eddie. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Thoresen, and husband, Ray; her grandson, David Thoresen; brother, F. J. “Buddy” Reissig; sister-in-law, Ardis Meschke; brother-in-law, Roy Simank; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at quarter past nine in the morning, Friday, the 16th of September at Messiah Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning, Friday following the visitation. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, Pflugerville.
