Roy Carl Kaase, 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 13, 2012 at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. He was born on February 13, 1927 in Austin, Texas to Charles Frederick Kaase and Leona (Richter) Kaase.
Roy grew up in Austin, Texas with his two sisters Jane and Dorothy. He graduated from Austin High School and Nixon Clay Commercial College in Austin, Texas. He joined the Army in 1945, served overseas in Japan, and was honorably discharged in 1946. His employers during his lifetime were National Biscuit Company (Shipping Clerk), US Postal Service (Mail Carrier for 31 years and 9 months retiring in 1987), St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Little Print Shop and Burrell Printing Company (retiring in 2006). During his retirement years, Roy’s greatest joy was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Roy married Marilyn (Krause) Kaase at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas and they lived their entire married life of 58 years in Austin. Since birth Roy was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church and in 1949 became a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas before transferring back to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in 1954. He was involved and enjoyed serving many areas of service in both churches.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Leona Kaase, sister Jane Kaase Nixon, brothers-in-law David Nixon and Charles Berg; niece Judy Berg: sister-in-law Pat Krause.
Roy is survived by his wife Marilyn; sons Mike Kaase, Ronnie Kaase, Randy Kaase, Marc (Sue) Kaase, Rodney (Martha) Kaase; sister Dorothy Berg; brother-in-law Merv Krause; grandchildren Kellie (Jason) Alford, Jacob Kaase, Kyle Kaase, Keith Kaase, Bryan Kaase, Michelle Kaase, Taryn Disque, Luke Disque; great-grandchild Audrey Kate Alford and many nieces and nephews and a larger extended family.
A visitation will be held at six o’clock in the evening on October 17, 2012 at Cook Walden Funeral Home located at 6100 N Lamar, Austin, Texas. A funeral service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on October 18, 2012 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church located at 606 W 15th Street, Austin, Texas. Burial will follow at Cook Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery located at 14501 N IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
