Robert, fondly known as TJ, was born to Antonio “Sone” and Maria C. Tijerina on December 2, 1941 in Austin, TX. At the age of 15, he worked in the fields where he met his “baby,” Susie, and from that love came 6 children. Robert began working at Austin Transit in 1967, later known as Capital Metro, and retired after 42 years. Later in life, his happiness came from spending time with his great grandchildren and watching them grow. Robert was not just a husband, father, and grandfather, he was a source of strength, wisdom, and love. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susie of 66 years; their children MaryAnn (Rob), AnnaBell (Richard), Kathy (Ralph), Joel and Susan; his siblings Mary Helen, Nora, Juan, San Juan, Ricky, Tony, Bennie; 19 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in peace were his son, Robert Jr., his parents Antonio and Maria, his sister Audilia, and his brothers Daniel and Joe Lupe.
Escorting him to his final resting place are his grandsons Anthony Jr, Lawrence, Joe Robert, Timothy, Robert, Joshua, Jacob and Noah along with honorary pallbearer Meghan.
Special thank you to Magnolia Hospice for the amazing care and support.
