On the nineteenth day December 2010, one of God’s most gifted and brightest was suddenly taken from us. Robert R. (Bobby) McCurdy was currently training as a pilot in the U.S. Navy at Corpus Christi NAS. He was born in Austin, Texas on the eighth day of October 1987. He attended Austin Public Schools, graduating from Bowie High School in 2005. He was a proud Longhorn, graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009. Bobby leaves to mourn his passing are his loving parents, Nancy L. and Robert L. McCurdy; sister, Sara and her husband, Kevin Coufal; aunt and cousins, Donna, David and Daniel Wuest; grandparents, Robert and Gladys Harden; grandmother, Elizabeth McCurdy; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends, especially Cole Dabney and Nick Lebo; his Bowie High School classmates, his Tejas Brothers, and his Navy Brothers are all left to keep his legacy alive. Bobby was an inspiration to all who knew him. His incredible zest for life, his adventurous and fun loving spirit, and his love for his country will be remembered always. To honor this legacy, the Robert R. McCurdy/James Ellerbrock Travel Scholarship for deserving Bowie High School students has been established.
