Child of Mary and Alfred Dunn, he was raised in the Bronx, New York, where he had many mischievous adventures. As a child during WW2, he was inspired by the sight of the aircraft passing overhead on their way to Europe. He was moved to join the Air Force at the age of 17, serving for 20 years, including in Korea, as well as Vietnam, before finally retiring and moving to Austin.
During his time in the Air Force, he met and married his loving wife, Helen.
After leaving the Air Force, he worked as a Police Officer at the University of Texas for 25 years.
He enjoyed traveling, reunions with his unit, dancing, and various hobbies that kept him out of trouble.
Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen; children Michael Paul (Madonna) and Alfred John (Tammy); grandchildren Aindrea, Stephen, Michael Jr. and Michaela, and great grandchild Charles.
A memorial service for Robert will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 am at Cook Walden Funeral Home.
