Robert Hatton Bunnell, Jr., 86, of Austin passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005. He was born September 12, 1918 in Houston, Texas to Robert Hatton Bunnell, Sr. and Annie Victoria Elam Bunnell. Robert attended Baylor University and received his Bachelor of Business degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Following graduation, Robert and his college sweetheart, Allyne Collins were married in Palestine in May of 1941. Robert served his country well in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he and Allyne moved to Port Arthur, Texas where he began a long and successful career with Gulf Oil. Serving as an accountant, Robert and his wife Allyne had the wonderful opportunity to live in many areas, including Madrid, Spain, Houston, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA, and Miami, FL. He was very active in many church organizations throughout his life. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age while growing up in Palestine, Texas. At the time of his death, he was a devoted member of Lakehills Church in Austin. Robert was also active in the Baylor and TCU alumni groups, enjoyed many years of membership in the Rotary Club of Austin, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. His parents, Robert and Annie Bunnell, one sister, Mildred Bunnell, his mother and father-in-law, Dell Flores Collins and Searcy Fred Collins, one sister-in-law, Rachel Collins and one brother-in-law, Delton Bane all preceded him in death. Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Allyne Collins Bunnell; one daughter, Molly Bunnell Morris and husband Truman Nichols Morris, Jr.; one sister, Jean Bunnell Stevens and husband E. M. Stevens; one sister-in-law, Joyce Collins Bane, three grandchildren, Kimberley Morris Ross and husband Ronald; Truman Nicholas Morris III and wife Anna-Margaret; Robert Bunnell Morris; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hudson Ross, Robert Hatton Ross, Molly-Kimberlyn Faith Ross, Anna-Nicole Morris, Truman Nicholas Morris IV, Margaret Allyne Morris and Durango Nicholas Morris. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Edmund Stevens, Edith Ann Stevens, Janell Stevens, James Fred Bane and Carla Jo Bane. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2005 in the Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church, 4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy in Austin with Dr. Gordon Smith and Pastor Mac Richard officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. Following the services, the family will host a reception at the Running M Ranch located at Hwy 290 W and Miller Creek Cemetery Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Truman Nicholas Morris III, Robert Bunnell Morris, Ronald Dale Ross, James Bane, Edmund Stevens, Michael Douglas McIntyre, Danay Covert and Cary Janvier. Honorary pallbearers will be James Cartright, E. E. Steussey, Dick Corry, Linoel Lewis, Frank Goodson, Charles Hall, John Noel, Ben Schraeder and L. L. Davis. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Alzheimers Association, Lake Hills Church, or Riverbend Church.
