Robert Allen

Robert Allen, age 53, died in Lago Vista, TX on the 17th day of October in the year 2016 after a long decline following a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1997.

Robert was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on January 2nd, 1963, to Roberto Allen and Bertha Flores-Allen. Robert enjoyed surfing the beaches of La Libertad near his father’s home in San Diego, El Salvador. He loved the ocean and spent as much time with his friends near the water as he could get away with. He attended an all-boys academy, El Colegio Externado de San José, run by Jesuits. He met Linda Cordova while growing up in San Salvador, whom he later married in March 18th, 1985 in Bryan, Texas. He graduated high school on Oct 17th, 1981 from his school in 1984, Robert’s father sent him to college at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He entered the Marine Corps in 1985 and had his first child, his beloved daughter, Aimee Allen, on December 2nd, 1986 in Bryan, TX. On March 16th, 1989, Robert had his second child, his son, Daniel Allen, in Houston, TX. Dad was deployed to serve in Dessert Strom in 1991 and achieved the rank of Sergeant in the Marine Corps as an Assault Amphibian Crewmen. Dad says that while serving in the Gulf War, his faith in God grew. After his faithful service to the Marine Corps and to his fellow crewmen, he was honorably discharged in 1993.

Robert began work as an Electrical Engineer and found his first job working for Toshiba, where Dad met his lifelong friend, Nathan Mitchell. Dad and Nathan shared many offices and labs together, working for Compaq, HP, Power One, Dell, National Instruments and Valence Technology as an Application Engineer. At Dell, he developed two federal patents for power supplies and was adept in repairing, designing and developing power supplies. In 1997, Dad had an episode where he lost control of his arms and legs –later he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Dad had a hard time dealing with his illness, but eventually found comfort in God. He said that he is thankful for the MS because it brought him closer to God. Robert and Linda divorced in 2005. Robert was an active attender of Hill Country Bible Church, his church home for just over a decade. At Hill Country, Dad met Karen Sue Lucas, and they loved each other deeply. Together, they served their church friends. Karen and Dad would travel for mission work in Honduras and El Salvador. They really enjoyed spending time together. Karen took amazing care of Dad while his illness progressed.
