Born December 3rd, 1953 "in the shadow of the Alamo", he was educated at Alamo Heights HS and graduated from Texas State University, going on to attend the University of Texas Law School. In his youth he spent summers hunting and fishing at the Nichols family ranch.
Robby was an entrepreneur and self-made man; he successfully created ACS Dataline, a tech company serving the likes of Dell, Motorola and Cisco. He retired at the early age of 45 but continued his passion for ranching, the outdoors, and oil and gas ventures. One of his lifelong dreams was to create the perfect ranch, and he did that with "Retama".
An amazing storyteller, avid collector, world traveler, and hunter/fisher man, Robby lived his life to the fullest. He loved reading, laughing, great food, practical jokes and dedicated himself to his service work. This generous and larger than life man will leave a permanent void in the lives of his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert Robert "Bud" Sawyer II, and his mother, Martha Ann Nichols Sawyer.
He is survived by his children Lauren and Jake Sawyer; sisters Kathy and husband Brad Burke, Kelly and Carl Fellbaum; nieces and nephews Kallie and Huntleigh Burke, and Ellie, Mattie and Libby Fellbaum; and aunt Teresa Nichols.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 17th, 10:00 am at Smith Family Chapel located at Riverbend Church off Capital of TX Hwy in Austin.
Memorials may be made to the Friedkin Conservation Fund, 1375 Enclave Pkwy, Houston, TX 77077.
