Rick was always there when I needed him. Never griped or nothing, just grin his grin & get the job done. He is surely missed by all that knew him.

Ricky "Bobby" and I have been best of friends for 27 years.  Never a harsh word between us.  I have so many wonderful memories of hunting, competing in BBQ cook-offs, drinking a cold one, and hanging out with our friends. Rick was a giver, my kind of guy. Someday, we will all be together in Heaven's big old beer joint.

My greatest memory was the day my brother and BBQ partner where each cooking a brisket mine my way and he was cooking a brisket his way the I was the student he was the master 

Ever had the chance to meet someone who wasn't your blood family but you just knew they were much better than blood? That was Rick and Belinda for me. We just happen to meet them by chance in one of our local bars and the we all hit it off.
Best memory for me was the time Rick wanted to taste my husband's brisket (for which is his nickname). So we got together at their place and Lorne, my husband, cooked his brisket on Rick's BBQ pit. After all the preparations were done and many discussions, Rick couldn't understand why it would take 18 hours to cook when it could be done in 6. The fun for Belinda and I was watching the two of them have their discussions which tended to end in laughter. We were all planning for more of those good times, but now it appears those times will have to wait. See you on the other side brother!

Right before we lost Rick we have been talking bbq and helping him get his pit running right. When we got that accomplished he was ready to do a few cook offs here and there so I told Rick I will give you all my notes to help him get back on your feet.  Then he said we that kinda like cheeting is it.... I said no that time at the Cedar Park Cook off when your Brisket wasn’t done and you took 6 slices of mine and won in Brisket that was cheeting!!! Lol 😂 he laughed too. 

Hi I am Ricky's cousin, Lisa, and even though they had a rocky relationship, he is also survived by a sister Dawnell Flangan Ayers, and she truly did love him.  Second, the one memory that sticks out with me was one time Rick was cooking out for the family for some reason and he had brought in the food and there was what appeared to be chicken on a stick and Dawnell and I both got one and he let us get about 1/2 way down and asked us how we liked, we both replied "It is pretty good, we like it".  He then went on to say that we were not eating chicken BUT instead it was rattlesnake and it was all over, we both spit out what was in our mouth and than began to hit on him!!!!!  Rick definitely had a humor and he adored to pick on his little sister and cuz.  I loved you Ricky even if it was a far but it will always be forever.  You will be missed.

I have worked with many many people since I started in the work force in 1970.  There are a few that stand out more than most and that is the case with knowing and working with Rick.

I always enjoyed the long talks Rick and I would have out in the Welding Shop at the East Service Center, now the Tim Louviere Center.  Our conversations ranged from deep and serious challenges of life to probably some very shallow and humorous subjects.  Rick had a great laugh!  He made me laugh!

Rick had a marvelous sense of humor and a dedicated since of duty and responsibility to his work, friends and especially his loved ones.  On top of that he was very talented.  I have to laugh when I remember going out into the welding shop one day and found him practicing welding razor blades together.

I am devasted at Rick's unexpected departure from all of us.  I will miss him.  Rest In Peace my friend until we meet again in Heaven one day.
