Richard was born on September 27, 1928, in Rosebud, Texas to parents Luther and Vernie. He was one of five children and was a loving brother to Alvin, Cecil, Clifford and Faye. He graduated from Florence High School. Richard was employed as a truck driver for Brown Express in Taylor, Texas before he accepted a position within the Department of Public Safety where he worked for 28 years as a Trooper in both Houston and Austin. Richard met his wife, Frances Merle in Florence, Texas and they had three children together. He was a supportive husband and a loving father to Randy, Ricky, and Russell. Richard was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his community and his family for the entirety of his life. He enjoyed telling stories, listening to music, fishing, and traveling the United States. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, thoughtful, tenacious and hard-working man. His legacy and impact are far-reaching and everlasting.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, three daughter-in-laws, four grandchildren, sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Richard will be held Monday, July 3, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
