He graduated Pittsburg High School, attended community college and was proud of his military service during WWII in the Army. Richard enjoyed a career in banking, prior to retiring and moving to Arizona and then to Austin to be near family.
He was member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved golf, cooking, music, dancing and skiing.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert; and wife, Dixie McBride. He is survived by his five sons and three grandchildren.
Richard was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor who enjoyed family and life.
The family extends deep appreciation to his doctors and caregivers that cared for him over the last several years.
To have Richard in your life was to be a recipient of one of the greatest gifts a person could receive. It is the joy of having known him that we will now celebrate.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a funeral service will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar.
