Richard and his twin sister Ida were born on the 14th of January, 1919. He was baptized on the 9th of February, 1919 at Ebenezar Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas. He was confirmed on the 18th of June, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kingsville, Texas. On the 18th of September, 1947, Richard married Ellen Marie Nauert at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin. Richard was a sergeant tank commander during World War II under General George S. Patton. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, and a Purple Heart recipient. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Rosenbaum; his parents, Albert and Bertha Kissman; sisters, Ann Reinke, Ida Tanner, Olga Huber and infant sister Edna.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ellen; daughters, Linda Moon and her husband, Earl, Cheryl Kincannon and her husband, David, Donna Sammons and her husband, Larry; six granddaughters, Christy Meredith, Laura Silkett and her husband, Mike, Carrie Duggar and her husband, Mike, Kristen Wallace and her husband, Tim, Carol and Katelynn Sammons; seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving Richard is his sister and brother, Ruth McKee and Bill Kissman; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the evening until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 13th of January, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin. The Funeral Service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 14th of January, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Anderson Lane, Austin. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks where Reverend Dave Schroder will officiate.
